Improved Roads
DOTD is responsible for over 16,705 miles of roadway and 894 miles of interstate.  Vermilion and Cameron parish roadways will not go unnoticed.  Plans to gather necessary funding through federal grants will assist us in improving our road conditions and in attracting new businesses.  This, in turn, will make travel easier for the people of District 47.

Education
We must secure a strong educational foundation for our children.  Jonathan believes in the importance of challenging our school systems to improve educational opportunities so that our youth will prosper.  A father of three, Jonathan has a personal interest vested in the success of our educational future.

Farming Operations
District 47 has over 97,700 harvested acreage of rice.  Cotton, sugarcane, sweet potatoes, and pecans are also precious resources to our area that must be remembered.  By gathering input from farmers on specific issues, Jonathan will work to influence legislation.

Fishing Operations
Louisiana's commercial fisheries are the most bountiful of the lower 48 states, providing 25-35 percent of the nation's total catch.  Fisherman will be heard.  Our livelihood will be protected.

Economic Development
We must continue to strive to create new jobs.  We must support the young people of our community to find good, competitive wage jobs and encourage their surroundings so that they will stay and raise their families here.  Attracting new business will remain a priority.

Elderly Assistance
There will be a focus on the elimination of state income taxes for residents 65 and older. The elderly are the heart of most communities and will not be forgotten.

Coastal Erosion
Louisiana contains approximately 40% of the nation's wetlands and experiences 80% of the nation's coastal wetland loss. In addition LA is losing 25 to 35 square miles of wetlands per year. Jonathan wants to highlight our greatest feature, the coast. Storms remain a constant threat on our lives and our land. We must protect our environment.
